North Northants Council (NNC) has issued a warning to residents, including pet owners, after Oakley Vale lake was found to be contaminated with oil.

The council says it is working hard to contain the oil which will then be cleared away by an external contractor, but in the meantime residents are being asked to keep it away and make sure pets do not enter the lake.

Customer Nadi Ovanessoff said her cat, Guava, was feral and badly matted before Curmak stepped in.

“Nobody else would see her,” Ovanessoff said. “The vets wouldn’t see her unless she was sedated. We couldn’t get her sedated. I called John and he said, ‘Bring her in.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ ”

Pet grooming and rescue are his calling. When he lost his father a year ago, John used his inheritance to buy the Pampered Paws mobile grooming business.

“I know he would have wanted it,” Curmak said.

A massive survey analyzing animal behavior during COVID-19 lockdowns has provided new insight into how humans can better co-exist with their wild counterparts.

It also provided some great photos of bison, grizzlies, baby moose and other animals in their natural habitats.
